A lot of Kconfig options have changed over the years, and we tend to not do a blind 'make defconfig' to refresh the files, to ensure we catch options that should not have gone away. I used some a bit of scripting to only rework the bits where an option moved around in any of the defconfig files, without also dropping any of the other lines, to make it clearer which options we no longer have. This just updates the U8500 defconfig to reflect what has happened in the Kconfig: DRM_PANEL_SONY_ACX424AKP is now handled by DRM_PANEL_NOVATEK_NT35560, all ST sensors have SPI version drivers that we don't use, and some debug options moved around. The platform lost the framebuffer due to a commit solving a circular dependency in v5.14-rc1, so add it back in by explicitly selecting the framebuffer. The U8500 has also gained a few systems using touchscreens from Cypress, Melfas and Zinitix so add these at the same time as we're updating the defconfig anyway. Some new driver support for the Ux500 devices landed in v5.12-rc1 so update the defconfig to use them: - TM2 touchkey, used on the Golden and Janice. - SPI GPIO, used for the Janice display control. - NTC thermistor, used for the HREF temperature sensors. - V4L2 flash control that gives support for LED torch to userspaces such as Phosh. - The LEDs Flash class and RT8515 Flash/torch LED driver used in all the Samsung mobiles. - FSA9480 extcon, used by Janice. - BMC150 accelerometer, used by Janice. - IIO rescaler, used for thermistors and ALS on Janice. - MPU3050 gyroscope driver used by Janice. - Yamaha YAS530 magnetometer driver used by Janice. This updates the defconfig for the U8500 platform with some of the changes from the v5.9 and v5.10 kernel cycles: - No need to select the schedutil cpufreq governor because it is the default now. - Enable the CY8CTMA140 touchscreen as used on the Samsung Skomer GT-S7710. - Enable the Samsung S6E63M0 DSI panel as used on the Samsung Golden GT-I8810. - Enable the KTD253 backlight as used on the Samsung Skomer GT-S7710. - Drop CONFIG_USB as we only use the gadget mode of the MUSB driver. - Add selection of the CONFIG_LEDS_LP55XX_COMMON lest the LP5521 LEDs will not work. - Move the config entry for CONFIG_DEBUG_FS. This enables the new or updates driver options for U8500 that got merged into v5.3-rc1: - CMA, MCDE driver, LIMA driver and the Samsung S6D16D0 driver enabled by default bringing up the new graphics support. Include the LOGO so we can see when the graphics are live. - We use the IIO hwmon bridge for reflecting temperature in the system. - Set MUSB to PIO mode as this is the one working most stable for the time being. - HWSPINLOCK needs to be set to get the hardware semaphore driver to compile and link properly. It is disabled since commit 1be01d4a5714 ("driver: base: Disable CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER by default") as its dependency (UEVENT_HELPER) was made default to 'n', 2. It is not recommended (help message: "This should not be used today [...] creates a high system load") and was kept only for ancient userland, 3. Certain userland specifically requests it to be disabled (systemd README: "Legacy hotplug slows down the system and confuses udev"). In order to utilise all of the memory located on ux500 based devices we have to enable HIGHMEM. Without it the kernel truncates memory down to what's left after the PAGE_OFFSET has been applied, which doesn't leave an awful lot, especially if we're running large rootfs' such as full Linux desktop distributions or Android. Enable MMC_UNSAFE_RESUME to be accomplish a proper suspend/resume cycle for SD/SDIO/(e)MMC. ARMMMCI host driver supports clock gating through runtime PM, thus MMC_CLKGATE is not needed. Moreover ARMMMCI can do scatter-gather which means we can explicity disable MMC_BLOCK_BOUNCE, since it's default enabled, to skip unnecessary bounce buffer copying. Update the defconfig removing/adding selections due to Kconfig changes, and select some new hardware drivers that have been matured in the tree. For example: - CONFIG_NO_HZ and CONFIG_HIGH_RES_TIMERS come from the make oldconfig changes after the recent changes to how NOHZ is handled. - The U5500 config option is now gone as the machine is deleted. So is the AB5500 driver. - CPU_IDLE selected explicitly. - LP5521 Kconfig has been moved around. - AB8500 core is default-selected, as is the AB8500 USB transciever. - The battery and charging management drivers for the AB8500 are not selected again. - Select the crypto devices that have been shaped up to work properly. It is the intention to convert the MMC voltage changing from GPIO flipping to using a proper GPIO regulator interface. A prerequisite of that is to enable the GPIO regulator functionality. Using 'select' in Kconfig is hard, a platform cannot just enable a driver without also making sure that its subsystem is there. Also, there is no actual code dependency between the platform and the gpio leds driver. Without this patch, building without LEDS_CLASS esults in: drivers/built-in.o: In function `create_gpio_led.part.2': governor_userspace.c:(.devinit.text+0x5a58): undefined reference to `led_classdev_register' drivers/built-in.o: In function `gpio_led_remove': governor_userspace.c:(.devexit.text+0x6b8): undefined reference to `led_classdev_unregister' This reverts 8733f53c6 "ARM: ux500: Kconfig: Compile in leds-gpio support for Snowball" that introduced the regression and did not provide a helpful explanation. In order to leave the GPIO LED code still present in normal builds, this also enables the symbol in u8500_defconfig, in addition to the other LED drivers that are already selected there.
