2024-10-14dmaengine: Switch back to struct platform_driver::remove()Uwe Kleine-König3-3/+3
After commit 0edb555a65d1 ("platform: Make platform_driver::remove() return void") .remove() is (again) the right callback to implement for platform drivers. Convert all platform drivers below drivers/dma after the previous conversion commits apart from the wireless drivers to use .remove(), with the eventual goal to drop struct platform_driver::remove_new(). As .remove() and .remove_new() have the same prototypes, conversion is done by just changing the structure member name in the driver initializer. 2024-10-14dmaengine: ti: k3-udma: Set EOP for all TRs in cyclic BCDMA transferJai Luthra1-15/+47
When receiving data in cyclic mode from PDMA peripherals, where reload count is set to infinite, any TR in the set can potentially be the last one of the overall transfer. In such cases, the EOP flag needs to be set in each TR and PDMA's Static TR "Z" parameter should be set, matching the size of the TR. This is required for the teardown to function properly and cleanup the internal state memory. This only affects platforms using BCDMA and not those using UDMA-P, which could set EOP flag in the teardown TR automatically. Similarly when transmitting data in cyclic mode to PDMA peripherals, the EOP flag needs to be set to get the teardown completion signal correctly. 2024-06-09dmaengine: ti: k3-udma-glue: clean up return in k3_udma_glue_rx_get_irq()Dan Carpenter1-0/+3
Currently the k3_udma_glue_rx_get_irq() function returns either negative error codes or zero on error. Generally, in the kernel, zero means success so this be confusing and has caused bugs in the past. Also the "tx" version of this function only returns negative error codes. Let's clean this "rx" function so both functions match. This patch has no effect on runtime. 2024-01-30dmaengine: ti: k3-udma-glue: Add function to request RX chan for thread IDSiddharth Vadapalli1-32/+91
The existing function k3_udma_glue_request_remote_rx_chn() supports requesting an RX DMA channel and flow by the name of the RX DMA channel. Add support to request RX DMA channel for a given thread ID in the form of a new function named k3_udma_glue_request_remote_rx_chn_for_thread_id(). Also, export it for use by drivers which are probed by alternate methods (non device-tree) but still wish to make use of the existing DMA APIs. Such drivers could be informed about the thread ID corresponding to the RX DMA channel by RPMsg for example. Since the new function k3_udma_glue_request_remote_rx_chn_for_thread_id() reuses most of the code in k3_udma_glue_request_remote_rx_chn(), create a new function named k3_udma_glue_request_remote_rx_chn_common() for the common code. Also, export it for use by drivers which are probed by alternate methods (non device-tree) but still wish to make use of the existing DMA APIs. 2024-01-30dmaengine: ti: k3-udma-glue: Update name for remote RX channel deviceSiddharth Vadapalli1-2/+2
A single RX Channel can have multiple flows. It is possible that a single device requests multiple flows on the same RX Channel. In such cases, the existing implementation of naming the device on the basis of the RX Channel can result in duplicate names. The existing implementation only uses the RX Channel source thread when naming, which implies duplicate names when different flows are being requested on the same RX Channel. In order to avoid duplicate names, include the RX flow as well in the name. 2024-01-30dmaengine: ti: k3-udma-glue: Add function to parse channel by IDSiddharth Vadapalli1-25/+48
The existing helper function of_k3_udma_glue_parse() fetches the DMA Channel thread ID from the device-tree node. This makes it necessary to have a device-tree node with the Channel thread IDs populated. However, in the case where the thread ID is known by alternate methods (an example being that of Firmware running on remote core sharing details of the thread IDs), there is no equivalent function to implement the functionality of the existing of_k3_udma_glue_parse() function. In such cases, the driver utilizing the DMA APIs might not even have a device-tree node to begin with, since it could be probed with other methods (RPMsg-Bus for example). Add the of_k3_udma_glue_parse_chn_by_id() helper function which accepts the thread ID as an argument, thereby making it unnecessary to have a device-tree node for obtaining the thread ID. Since of_k3_udma_glue_parse() and of_k3_udma_glue_parse_chn_by_id() share a lot of code in common, create a new function to handle the common code which is named as of_k3_udma_glue_parse_chn_common(). The k3_udma_glue_tx_get_irq() function currently returns negative error codes on error, zero on error and positive values for success. This complicates life for the callers who need to propagate the error code. Also GCC will not warn about unsigned comparisons when you check: if (unsigned_irq <= 0) All the callers have been fixed now but let's just make this easy going forward. Prepare for the coming implementation by GCC and Clang of the __counted_by attribute. Flexible array members annotated with __counted_by can have their accesses bounds-checked at run-time checking via CONFIG_UBSAN_BOUNDS (for array indexing) and CONFIG_FORTIFY_SOURCE (for strcpy/memcpy-family functions). As found with Coccinelle[1], add __counted_by for struct omap_desc. Additionally, since the element count member must be set before accessing the annotated flexible array member, move its initialization earlier. 2023-09-28dmaengine: ti: omap-dma: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König1-4/+2
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() is renamed to .remove(). Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. 2023-08-01dmaengine: Explicitly include correct DT includesRob Herring5-5/+6
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. 2023-03-31dmaengine: ti: k3-udma: Add system suspend/resume supportVignesh Raghavendra1-0/+54
The K3 platforms configure the DMA resources with the help of the TI's System Firmware's Device Manager(DM) over TISCI. The group of DMA related Resource Manager[1] TISCI messages includes: INTA, RINGACC, UDMAP, and PSI-L. This configuration however, does not persist in the DM after leaving from Suspend-to-RAM state. We have to restore the DMA channel configuration over TISCI for all configured channels when returning from suspend. The TISCI resource management calls for each DMA type (UDMA, PKTDMA, BCDMA) happen in device_free_chan_resources() and device_alloc_chan_resources(). In pm_suspend() we store the current udma_chan_config for channels that still have attached clients and call device_free_chan_resources(). In pm_resume() restore the udma_channel_config from backup and call device_alloc_chan_resources() for those channels. Drivers like CPSW that use k3-udma-glue already do their own DMA resource management so use the late system suspend/resume hooks.
