NEW AWESOME FEATURES AND ENHANCEMENTS

Banshee 1.7.5 is part of the 1.7 active development series, leading up to a
stable 1.8 release in the fall.
New Features Since 1.7.4:
* GIO/udev-based hardware backend
Our old HAL-based backend still works, but HAL has been deprecated and
even removed from some distributions; GIO/udev are the future.
* Apple Devices backend with support for iPod/iOS devices
Our ipod-sharp/podsleuth-based backend still exists, but this libgpod
based backend is the future. This is its first release, so it should be
considered beta quality; please file bugs!
* MPRIS v2 support (Ubuntu Sound Menu, etc)
* Audiobooks and Miro Guide extensions enabled by default
Enhancements/API Additions:
* Play menu item in track context menu
* Amazon affiliate codes for all supported countries
* "Amazon MP3s" Music smart playlist
* Miro Guide teaser in Podcasts

* Developers: Our new gstreamer-sharp based media engine backend has seen
some recent improvements. It's alpha quality, but is usable
and ready for hacking. Our libbanshee-based backend is still
the only one recommended for end-users.
* Packagers: You may need to call update-mime-database in a post-install
package hook for the AmazonMp3 extension.

'home:gabrielburt:branches:Banshee / openSUSE_Factory'; also the
build/configure time is stored along with the host OS and CPU
Please note that for openSUSE, all of the dependencies above can be
found in the openSUSE Build Service, and are linked into the
Banshee project. Even if you build from source, if you wish
to avoid building the entire dependency chain above, add the
Banshee repository to your repository list.
Historically, Banshee has fostered development of a number of projects
and bundled their source code instead of depending on external builds.
Many of these dependencies have matured and grown into well maintained
projects on their own, and we are now depending on them externally. We
waited to remove the bundles long enough to allow for distributions to
ship packages to reduce the pain of building Banshee.
