Drop HBM responses also in the early shutdown phase where
the usual traffic is allowed.
Extend the rule that drop HBM responses received during the shutdown
phase by also in MEI_DEV_POWERING_DOWN state.
This resolves the stall if the driver is stopping in the middle

Link reset flow is always performed in the runtime resumed state.
The internal PG state may be left as ON after the suspend
and will not be updated upon the resume if the D0i3 is not supported.
Ensure that the internal PG state is set to the right value on the flow
entrance in case the firmware does not support D0i3.

Pull USB / Thunderbolt updates from Greg KH:
"Here is the "big" set of USB and Thunderbolt driver changes for
5.18-rc1. For the most part it's been a quiet development cycle for
the USB core, but there are the usual "hot spots" of development
activity.
Included in here are:
- Thunderbolt driver updates:
- fixes for devices without displayport adapters
- lane bonding support and improvements
- other minor changes based on device testing
- dwc3 gadget driver changes.
It seems this driver will never be finished given that the IP core
is showing up in zillions of new devices and each implementation
decides to do something different with it...
- uvc gadget driver updates as more devices start to use and rely on
this hardware as well
- usb_maxpacket() api changes to remove an unneeded and unused
parameter.
- usb-serial driver device id updates and small cleanups
- typec cleanups and fixes based on device testing
- device tree updates for usb properties
- lots of other small fixes and driver updates.
All of these have been in linux-next for weeks with no reported
problems"

Currently, component_match callback functions used in mei refers to the
driver name, assuming that the component device being matched has a
driver bound. It can cause a NULL pointer dereference when a device
without a driver bound registers a component. This is due to the nature
of the component framework where all registered components are matched
in any component_match callback functions. So even if a component is
registered by a totally irrelevant device, that component is also
shared to these callbacks for i915 driver.
To prevent totally irrelevant device being matched for i915 and causing
a NULL pointer dereference for checking driver name, add a NULL check on
dev->driver to check if there is a driver bound before checking the
driver name.
In the future, the string compare on the driver name, "i915" may need to
be refactored too.

Usage of the iterator outside of the list_for_each_entry
is considered harmful. https://lkml.org/lkml/2022/2/17/1032
Do not reference the loop variable outside of the loop,
by rearranging the orders of execution.
Instead of performing search loop and checking outside the loop
if the end of the list was hit and no matching element was found,
the execution is performed inside the loop upon a successful match
followed by a goto statement to the next step,
therefore no condition has to be performed after the loop has ended.

During the hardware start sequence, do not overwrite the driver state
and do not proceed with the initialization sequence if the state
was changed while the driver was waiting for the start interrupt.
This can happen if the driver's removal/stop procedure was triggered

interrupt. This may lead to stray the reset work or the timer

Use dma_set_mask_and_coherent() instead of unrolling it with some
dma_set_mask()+dma_set_coherent_mask().
Moreover, as stated in [1], dma_set_mask() with a 64-bit mask will never
fail if dev->dma_mask is non-NULL.
So, if it fails, the 32 bits case will also fail for the same reason.
Simplify code and remove some dead code accordingly.
While at it, include directly <linux/dma-mapping.h> instead on relying on
indirect inclusion.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/driver-core
Pull driver core updates from Greg KH:
"Here is the big set of driver core patches for 5.15-rc1.
These do change a number of different things across different
subsystems, and because of that, there were 2 stable tags created that
might have already come into your tree from different pulls that did
the following
- changed the bus remove callback to return void
- sysfs iomem_get_mapping rework
Other than those two things, there's only a few small things in here:
- kernfs performance improvements for huge numbers of sysfs users at
once
- tiny api cleanups
- other minor changes
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
problems, other than the before-mentioned merge issue"

The driver core ignores the return value of this callback because there
is only little it can do when a device disappears.
This is the final bit of a long lasting cleanup quest where several
buses were converted to also return void from their remove callback.
Additionally some resource leaks were fixed that were caused by drivers
returning an error code in the expectation that the driver won't go
away.
With struct bus_type::remove returning void it's prevented that newly
implemented buses return an ignored error code and so don't anticipate
wrong expectations for driver authors.

The __assign_str macro has an unusual ending semicolon but the vast
majority of uses of the macro already have semicolon termination.
$ git grep -P '\b__assign_str\b' | wc -l
551
$ git grep -P '\b__assign_str\b.*;' | wc -l
480
Add semicolons to the __assign_str() uses without semicolon termination
and all the other uses without semicolon termination via additional defines
that are equivalent to __assign_str() with the eventual goal of removing
the semicolon from the __assign_str() macro definition.

The mei extension header was build as array of flexible structures
which will not work if actually more headers are added.
(Currently only vtag header was used).
Sparse reports:
drivers/misc/mei/hw.h:253:32: warning: array of flexible structures
Use basic type u8 for the variable sized extension.
Define explicitly mei_ext_hdr_vtag structure.
And also fix mei_ext_next() function to point correctly to the
end of the header.
Note: the headers are part of firmware interface and need to be __packed.

The driver core ignores the return value of mei_cl_device_remove() so
passing an error value doesn't solve any problem. As most mei drivers'
remove callbacks return 0 unconditionally and returning a different value
doesn't have any effect, change this prototype to return void and return 0
unconditionally in mei_cl_device_remove(). The only driver that could
return an error value is modified to emit an explicit warning in the error
case.

The driver core only calls a bus' remove function when there is actually
a driver and a device. So drop the needless check and assign cldrv earlier.
(Side note: The check for cldev being non-NULL is broken anyhow, because
to_mei_cl_device() is a wrapper around container_of() for a member that is
not the first one. So cldev only can become NULL if dev is (void *)0xc
(for archs with 32 bit pointers) or (void *)0x18 (for archs with 64 bit
pointers).)
