2009-09-02powerpc/powermac: Thermal control turns system off too eagerlyLyonel Vincent1-2/+2
On certain PowerMacs, a module (therm_windtunnel) controls various thermal settings (it can report CPU/case temperature, change speed of internal fans, etc.) By default, the hardware thermal control has a temperature limit to protect the computer from damages (the default limit seems to be 80°C) but therm_windtunnel.c reduces it to an anormaly low value (65°C), which means that he computer will shut down randomly when hit by direct sun light or during summer (summer in France can be quite hot), actually possibly losing data instead of protecting it. The overheat limit in therm_windtunnel.c:253-254 should be set to 75°C and 70°C instead of 65°C and 60°C respectively. 2009-06-26powerpc/pmac: Fix DMA ops for MacIO devicesBenjamin Herrenschmidt1-0/+11
The macio_dev's created to map devices inside the MacIO ASICs don't have proper dma_ops. This causes crashes on some machines since the SCSI code calls dma_map_* on our behalf using the device we hang from. This fixes it by copying the parent PCI device dma_ops into the macio_dev when creating it. Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>

2008-07-01drivers/macintosh/smu.c: Improve error handlingJulia Lawall1-15/+19
This makes two changes: * As noted by Akinobu Mita in patch b1fceac2b9e04d278316b2faddf276015fc06e3b, alloc_bootmem never returns NULL and always returns a zeroed region of memory. Thus the error checking code and memset after the call to alloc_bootmem are not necessary. * The old error handling code consisted of setting a global variable to NULL and returning an error code, which could cause previously allocated resources never to be freed. The patch adds calls to appropriate resource deallocation functions. Signed-off-by: Julia Lawall <julia@diku.dk> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>

2008-05-16Input: adbhid - capslock and power button fixRodney Lorrimar1-3/+12
If the adbhid module parameter restore_capslock_events is used, pressing the power button may confuse the capslock state. This is because the power button release scancode (0xff) is sometimes the same as the capslock press/release scancode. This fix adds yet another flag to track the state of the power button so that it works independently of capslock. 2008-05-16Input: adbhid - fix capslock key state after suspendRodney Lorrimar1-7/+39
If the adbhid module parameter restore_capslock_events is used, sometimes capslock will get stuck down after resuming. My fix is to remember the capslock state before suspend and then ignore the first 'caps lock key down' message after resume if the capslock LED was on before suspending.
