2012-03-28Merge tag 'split-asm_system_h-for-linus-20120328' of ↵Linus Torvalds1-1/+0
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-asm_system Pull "Disintegrate and delete asm/system.h" from David Howells: "Here are a bunch of patches to disintegrate asm/system.h into a set of separate bits to relieve the problem of circular inclusion dependencies. I've built all the working defconfigs from all the arches that I can and made sure that they don't break. The reason for these patches is that I recently encountered a circular dependency problem that came about when I produced some patches to optimise get_order() by rewriting it to use ilog2(). This uses bitops - and on the SH arch asm/bitops.h drags in asm-generic/get_order.h by a circuituous route involving asm/system.h. The main difficulty seems to be asm/system.h. It holds a number of low level bits with no/few dependencies that are commonly used (eg. memory barriers) and a number of bits with more dependencies that aren't used in many places (eg. switch_to()). These patches break asm/system.h up into the following core pieces: (1) asm/barrier.h Move memory barriers here. This already done for MIPS and Alpha. (2) asm/switch_to.h Move switch_to() and related stuff here. (3) asm/exec.h Move arch_align_stack() here. Other process execution related bits could perhaps go here from asm/processor.h. (4) asm/cmpxchg.h Move xchg() and cmpxchg() here as they're full word atomic ops and frequently used by atomic_xchg() and atomic_cmpxchg(). (5) asm/bug.h Move die() and related bits. (6) asm/auxvec.h Move AT_VECTOR_SIZE_ARCH here. Other arch headers are created as needed on a per-arch basis." Fixed up some conflicts from other header file cleanups and moving code around that has happened in the meantime, so David's testing is somewhat weakened by that. We'll find out anything that got broken and fix it.. * tag 'split-asm_system_h-for-linus-20120328' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-asm_system: (38 commits) Delete all instances of asm/system.h Remove all #inclusions of asm/system.h Add #includes needed to permit the removal of asm/system.h Move all declarations of free_initmem() to linux/mm.h Disintegrate asm/system.h for OpenRISC Split arch_align_stack() out from asm-generic/system.h Split the switch_to() wrapper out of asm-generic/system.h Move the asm-generic/system.h xchg() implementation to asm-generic/cmpxchg.h Create asm-generic/barrier.h Make asm-generic/cmpxchg.h #include asm-generic/cmpxchg-local.h Disintegrate asm/system.h for Xtensa Disintegrate asm/system.h for Unicore32 [based on ver #3, changed by gxt] Disintegrate asm/system.h for Tile Disintegrate asm/system.h for Sparc Disintegrate asm/system.h for SH Disintegrate asm/system.h for Score Disintegrate asm/system.h for S390 Disintegrate asm/system.h for PowerPC Disintegrate asm/system.h for PA-RISC Disintegrate asm/system.h for MN10300 ...

2012-03-23microblaze: Handle TLB skip size dynamicallyMichal Simek1-0/+13
This patch fix the problem with rootfs on JFFS2 with early printk console turned on. The origin version used TLB63 for temporary early printk mapping. The code expect that kernel is not able to use all 64 TLB entries till early printk console is remapped by ioremap. After that temporary mapping on TLB63 is silently lost. This expectation give the opportunity to have early console pretty early. Microblaze systems with JFFS2 rootfs with early printk console turned on used more than 64 TLB entries before kernel can remap early console. Based on that kernel does access to bad area because early printk mapping is rewritten. This patch introduces tlb_skip variable which dynamically stores number of skipped TLB entries from the TLB0. skip_tlb=2 means that TLB0 and TLB1 should be skipped. MICROBLAZE_TLB_SKIP defines how many TLB is skipped at the kernel start. They can be used for user purpose. TLB 63 is used for temporary LMB mapping (MICROBLAZE_LMB_TLB_ID). Also clean TLBLO when kernel starts. For specific kernel sizes kernel can use just one TLB. Detect this case and use the second TLB for general purpose. Change _tlbia function to flush TLB entries from tlb_skip to TLB_SIZE. Export tlb_skip size through debugfs. Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu>
2012-03-23microblaze: Improve TLB calculation for small systemsMichal Simek1-1/+10
Systems with small amount of memory need to be handled differently. Linux can't allocate the whole 32MB with two TLBs because then there is no MMU protection. Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu>
2012-02-14irq_domain: convert microblaze from irq_host to irq_domainGrant Likely1-2/+0

2012-01-31Revert "microblaze: Add topology init"Michal Simek1-20/+1
This reverts commit d761f0c521868e59cd0bc59159cbdb4686fe210d. Patch: "cpu: Register a generic CPU device on architectures that currently do not" (sha1: 9f13a1fd452f11c18004ba2422a6384b424ec8a9) selects GENERIC_CPU_DEVICES for Microblaze which register cpu. My patch was done in the same time that's why cpu was registered twice which caused this warning log: ------------[ cut here ]------------ WARNING: at fs/sysfs/dir.c:481 sysfs_add_one+0xb0/0xdc() sysfs: cannot create duplicate filename '/devices/system/cpu/cpu0' Modules linked in: ... 2012-01-11microblaze: Add topology initMichal Simek1-1/+20
Init topology subsystem by cpu registration. Microblaze Linux kernel is fauling by "Oops: kernel access of bad area, sig: 11" because cpu is not initialized. Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu>
2012-01-05microblaze: Remove eprintk macroMichal Simek1-9/+9
eprintk macro was used for printing early_printk messages. Early console registration was changed that's why this is not needed. Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu>
2011-07-25microblaze: Get early printk console earlierMichal Simek1-0/+5
1. Register early console as standard console 2. Enable CON_BOOT console flag to ensure auto-unregistering by the kernel 3. remap_early_printk function remap physical console baseaddr to virtual space Usage specific function for console remap is done after memory initialization with IRQ turn off that's why there is not necessary to protect it. The reason for remapping is that the kernel use TLB 63 for 1:1 address mapping to be able to use console in very early boot-up phase. But allocating one TLB just for console caused performance degression that's why ioremaps create new mapping and TLB 63 is automatically released and ready to use. 2011-03-15microblaze: Do not copy reset vectors/manual reset vector setupMichal Simek1-2/+10
Reset vector can be setup by bootloader and kernel doens't need to touch it. If you require to setup reset vector, please use CONFIG_MANUAL_RESET_VECTOR throught menuconfig. It is not possible to setup address 0x0 as reset address because make no sense to set it up at all. 2011-02-07microblaze: Fix msr instruction detectionMichal Simek1-2/+2
Fix msr instructions detection. The current code just use msrclr for loading msr content and compare it with proper MSR content. If msrclr is not implemented r8 contains pc address. Previous code wanted to use MSR carry bit but if msrclr wasn't implemented carry wasn't cleared. Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu>
2010-10-21microblaze: Report if only one timer is usedMichal Simek1-6/+0
Kernel needs two timers because of clocksource and clockevent. It is better to show warning message directly on early console if available. If it isn't available kernel log buffer contains it. Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu>
2010-07-24of: Merge of_platform_bus_type with platform_bus_typeGrant Likely1-6/+0
of_platform_bus was being used in the same manner as the platform_bus. The only difference being that of_platform_bus devices are generated from data in the device tree, and platform_bus devices are usually statically allocated in platform code. Having them separate causes the problem of device drivers having to be registered twice if it was possible for the same device to appear on either bus. This patch removes of_platform_bus_type and registers all of_platform bus devices and drivers on the platform bus instead. A previous patch made the of_device structure an alias for the platform_device structure, and a shim is used to adapt of_platform_drivers to the platform bus. After all of of_platform_bus drivers are converted to be normal platform drivers, the shim code can be removed. Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca> Acked-by: David S. 2010-04-01microblaze: Print early printk information to log bufferMichal Simek1-9/+15
If early printk console is not enabled then all messages are written to log buffer. Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu>
2010-03-11microblaze: Move cache function to cache.cMichal Simek1-6/+0

2010-03-11microblaze: Add support for Xilinx PCI host bridgeMichal Simek1-0/+3
This patch is based on powerpc patch 64f16502475ddf663169369fffff6da9b10ea9fb We did some cleanups and removed powerpc parts. There is one new debug early listing function too. Exclude function is only in Debug options. We tested in on custom board. Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu>
2010-03-11microblaze: Support DMAMichal Simek1-0/+36
Add DMA support for Microblaze. There are some part of this new feature: 1. Basic DMA support 2. Enable DMA debug option 3. Setup notifier Ad 1. dma-mapping come from powerpc and x86 version and it is based on generic dma-mapping-common.h Ad 2. DMA support debug features which is used in generic file. For more information please look at Documentation/DMA-API.txt Ad 3. notifier is very important to setup dma_ops. Without this part for example ll_temac driver failed because there are no setup dma operations. Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu>
2010-02-08microblaze: Invalidate dcache before enabling itMichal Simek1-0/+1
We found that on write-trough kernel is necessary to do that invalidation. One WB is possible to use invalidation too. Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu>
2009-12-14microblaze: Support for WB cacheMichal Simek1-4/+5
Microblaze version 7.20.d is the first MB version which can be run on MMU linux. Please do not used previous version because they contain HW bug. Based on WB support was necessary to redesign whole cache design. Microblaze versions from 7.20.a don't need to disable IRQ and cache before working with them that's why there are special structures for it. Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu>
2009-12-14microblaze: Remove panic_timeout init valueMichal Simek1-2/+0
panic_timeout is in BSS section and it is cleared with BSS section. This means that value is setup to 0. Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu>
2009-12-14microblaze: Lockdep supportMichal Simek1-0/+2
Microblaze needs to do lock_init very soon because MMU init calls lock functions. Here is the explanation from Peter Zijlstra why we have to enable __ARCH_WANTS_INTERRUPTS_ON_CTSW. "So we schedule while holding rq->lock (for obvious reasons), but since lockdep tracks held locks per tasks, we need to transfer the held state from the prev to the next task. We do this by explicity calling spin_release(&rq->lock) in context_switch() right before switch_to(), and calling spin_acquire(&rq->lock) in finish_task_switch()->finish_lock_switch(). Now, for some reason lockdep thinks that interrupts got enabled over the context switch (git grep __ARCH_WANTS_INTERRUPTS_ON_CTSW arch/microblaze doesn't seem to turn up anything). Clearly trying to acquire the rq->lock with interrupts enabled is a bad idea and lockdep warns you about this." Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu>

2009-07-27microblaze: Final support for statically linked DTBJohn Williams1-1/+2
If r7 is zero at kernel boot, or does not point to a valid DTB, then we fall back to a DTB (assumed to be) linked statically in the kernel, instead of blindly copying bogus cruft into the kernel DTB memory region Signed-off-by: John Williams <john.williams@petalogix.com> Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu>
2009-05-21microblaze: Cleanup compiled-in rootfs in BSS sectionMichal Simek1-21/+32
This patch is based on patch from Steve Magnani. There were bug for compiled-in rootfs. We have to move moving rootfs which is in BSS section to _ebss section which is at the end of kernel and then clear bss section not vice-versa. Signed-off-by: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu>
2009-05-21microblaze: Fix early cmdline for CMDLINE_FORCEMichal Simek1-8/+1
This patch fixed parsing early parameters because current implementation does that early parse DTS command line and then parse CMDLINE line which is compiled-in. For case that DTS doesn't contain command line is copied command line from kernel with is done in prom.c that's why I can remove it from machine_early_init.
