2009-03-19[ARM] pass reboot command line to arch_reset()Russell King2-2/+2
OMAP wishes to pass state to the boot loader upon reboot in order to instruct it whether to wait for USB-based reflashing or not. There is already a facility to do this via the reboot() syscall, except we ignore the string passed to machine_restart(). This patch fixes things to pass this string to arch_reset(). This means that we keep the reboot mode limited to telling the kernel _how_ to perform the reboot which should be independent of what we request the boot loader to do. 2009-02-21Merge branch 'dma' into develRussell King1-2/+4
Conflicts: arch/arm/plat-mxc/dma-mx1-mx2.c
2009-02-19[ARM] 5363/1: Shark cleanup and new defconfigAlexander Schulz11-58/+74
This includes a new defconfig for the Shark and some changes to the mach-shark directory to avoid namespace pollution and to switch the rtc to the newer driver. Signed-off-by: Alexander Schulz <alex@shark-linux.de> Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2008-12-11[ARM] dma: rejig DMA initializationRussell King1-2/+4
Rather than having the central DMA multiplexer call the architecture specific DMA initialization function, have each architecture DMA initialization function use core_initcall(), and register each DMA channel separately with the multiplexer. This removes the array of dma structures in the central multiplexer, replacing it with an array of pointers instead; this is more flexible since it allows the drivers to wrap the DMA structure (eventually allowing us to transition non-ISA DMA drivers away.) Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2008-11-29[ARM] Rename ISA mach/dma.h header to mach/isa-dma.hRussell King1-1/+1
This avoids confusion with platform specific DMA implementations in mach/dma.h Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2008-11-29[ARM] fix constant values of MAX_DMA_ADDRESSRussell King1-1/+1
Since 8d5796d2ec6b5a4e7a52861144e63af438d6f8f7, we have allowed PAGE_OFFSET to be configurable, so a constant virtual address for MAX_DMA_ADDRESS is buggy. It should be defined in terms of PAGE_OFFSET rather than a constant virtual address. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2008-11-29[ARM] move MAX_DMA_ADDRESS to mach/memory.hRussell King2-1/+1
Move the definition of MAX_DMA_ADDRESS from mach/dma.h to mach/memory.h, thereby placing it along side its relative, ISA_DMA_THRESHOLD. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2008-11-28[ARM] shark: avoid polluting the kernel's namespaceRussell King3-25/+6
Avoid unnecessarily pollution of the kernel's namespace by avoiding mach/hardware.h in mach/io.h. Include this header file where necessary. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2008-11-28[ARM] shark: remove old unused "translated" IO macrosRussell King1-17/+0

2008-11-28[ARM] remove a common set of __virt_to_bus definitionsNicolas Pitre1-3/+0
Let's provide an overridable default instead of having every machine class define __virt_to_bus and __bus_to_virt to the same thing. What most platforms are using is bus_addr == phys_addr so such is the default. One exception is ebsa110 which has no DMA what so ever, so the actual definition is not important except only for proper compilation. Also added a comment about the special footbridge bus translation. Let's also remove comments alluding to set_dma_addr which is not (and should not) be commonly used. 2008-09-06[ARM] Convert asm/io.h to linux/io.hRussell King4-4/+4

2008-08-07[ARM] Move include/asm-arm/arch-* to arch/arm/*/include/machRussell King13-2/+350
This just leaves include/asm-arm/plat-* to deal with. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2008-08-07[ARM] Remove asm/hardware.h, use asm/arch/hardware.h insteadRussell King1-1/+1
Remove includes of asm/hardware.h in addition to asm/arch/hardware.h. Then, since asm/hardware.h only exists to include asm/arch/hardware.h, update everything to directly include asm/arch/hardware.h and remove asm/hardware.h. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2008-01-28[ARM] Fix timer damage from d3d74453c34f8fd87674a8cf5b8a327c68f22e99Russell King1-2/+0
Move the xtime write mode seqlock into timer_tick(), so it only surrounds the call to do_timer(). This avoids a deadlock in update_process_times() ... hrtimer_get_softirq_time() which tries to get a read mode seqlock on xtime, thereby preventing booting. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>

2007-04-21[ARM] Remove needless linux/ptrace.h includesRussell King1-1/+0
Lots of places in arch/arm were needlessly including linux/ptrace.h, resumably because we used to pass a struct pt_regs to interrupt handlers. Now that we don't, all these ptrace.h includes are redundant. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2006-11-30[ARM] Remove compatibility layer for ARM irqsRussell King1-1/+1
set_irq_chipdata -> set_irq_chip_data get_irq_chipdata -> get_irq_chip_data do_level_IRQ -> handle_level_irq do_edge_IRQ -> handle_edge_irq do_simple_IRQ -> handle_simple_irq irqdesc -> irq_desc irqchip -> irq_chip Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2006-10-06Initial blind fixup for arm for irq changesLinus Torvalds2-3/+3
Untested, but this should fix up the bulk of the totally mechanical issues, and should make the actual detail fixing easier. Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

2006-08-01[ARM] 3739/1: genirq updates: irq_chip, add and use irq_chip.nameDavid Brownell1-1/+2
Patch from David Brownell ARM genirq cleanups/updates: - Start switching platforms to newer APIs * use "irq_chip" name, not "irqchip" * providing irq_chip.name - Show irq_chip.name in /proc/interrupts, like on x86. This update a bit more than half of the ARM code. The irq_chip.name values were chosen to match docs (if I have them) or be otherwise obvious ("FPGA", "CPLD", or matching the code). 2006-07-02[PATCH] ARM: fixup irqflags breakage after ARM genirq mergeThomas Gleixner1-1/+1
The irgflags consolidation did conflict with the ARM to generic IRQ conversion and was not applied for ARM. Fix it up. Use the new IRQF_ constants and remove the SA_INTERRUPT define Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

2006-01-13[ARM] 3260/1: remove phys_ram from struct machine_desc (part 2)Nicolas Pitre1-1/+0
Patch from Nicolas Pitre This field is redundent since it must be equal to PHYS_OFFSET anyway. Now that no code uses it anymore, mark it deprecated and remove all initializations from the tree. Signed-off-by: Nicolas Pitre <nico@cam.org> Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>

2005-09-08[SERIAL] Use an enum for serial8250 platform device IDsRussell King1-1/+1
Rather than hard-coding the platform device IDs, enumerate them. We don't particularly care about the actual ID we get, just as long as they're unique. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2005-07-16[PATCH] ARM: 2815/1: Shark: new defconfig, fixes with __io and serial portsAlexander Schulz1-2/+2
Patch from Alexander Schulz This patch brings a new default config file for the shark and fixes a compilation issue with io addressing and a runtime problem with the serial ports, where I corrected a wrong regshift value. These are all shark specific files so I hope it is ok to put them in one patch. Signed-off-by: Alexander Schulz <alex@shark-linux.de> Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>

2005-04-16Linux-2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds7-0/+464
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
