2010-10-26mm: stack based kmap_atomic()Peter Zijlstra1-4/+4
Keep the current interface but ignore the KM_type and use a stack based approach. The advantage is that we get rid of crappy code like: #define __KM_PTE \ (in_nmi() ? KM_NMI_PTE : \ in_irq() ? KM_IRQ_PTE : \ KM_PTE0) and in general can stop worrying about what context we're in and what kmap slots might be appropriate for that. The downside is that FRV kmap_atomic() gets more expensive. For now we use a CPP trick suggested by Andrew: #define kmap_atomic(page, args...) __kmap_atomic(page) to avoid having to touch all kmap_atomic() users in a single patch. 2010-10-19drm, kdb, kms: Change mode_set_base_atomic() enter argument to be an enumJason Wessel2-3/+3
The enter argument as implemented by commit 413d45d3627 (drm, kdb, kms: Add an enter argument to mode_set_base_atomic() API) should be more descriptive as to what it does vs just passing 1 and 0 around. There is no runtime behavior change as a result of this patch. 2010-10-06drm/nouveau/kms: Avoid a hang entering KDB with VT accel on.Chris Ball1-0/+9
Francisco Jerez advises that pre-nv20 cards would hang if we entered kdb with accel on and IRQs disabled, so we now disable accel before entering kdb and re-enable it on the way back out. 2010-10-06drm, kdb, kms: Add an enter argument to mode_set_base_atomic() APIJason Wessel2-2/+2
Some devices such as the radeon chips receive information from user space which needs to be saved when executing an atomic mode set operation, else the user space would have to be queried again for the information. This patch extends the mode_set_base_atomic() call to pass an argument to indicate if this is an entry or an exit from an atomic kernel mode set change. Individual drm drivers can properly save and restore state accordingly. 2010-10-01drm/gem: handlecount isn't really a kref so don't make it one.Dave Airlie3-4/+4
There were lots of places being inconsistent since handle count looked like a kref but it really wasn't. Fix this my just making handle count an atomic on the object, and have it increase the normal object kref. Now i915/radeon/nouveau drivers can drop the normal reference on userspace object creation, and have the handle hold it. This patch fixes a memory leak or corruption on unload, because the driver had no way of knowing if a handle had been actually added for this object, and the fbcon object needed to know this to clean itself up properly.
