2018-03-19PCI: Tidy commentsBjorn Helgaas1-3/+1
Remove pointless comments that tell us the file name, remove blank line comments, follow multi-line comment conventions. No functional change intended. Signed-off-by: Bjorn Helgaas <bhelgaas@google.com>

b24413180f56 ("License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license") added SPDX GPL-2.0 to several PCI files that previously contained no license information. Add SPDX GPL-2.0 to all other PCI files that did not contain any license information and hence were under the default GPL version 2 license of the kernel. 2018-01-18PCI: Add wrappers for dev_printk()Frederick Lawler1-2/+2
Add PCI-specific dev_printk() wrappers and use them to simplify the code slightly. No functional change intended. Signed-off-by: Frederick Lawler <fred@fredlawl.com> [bhelgaas: squash into one patch] Signed-off-by: Bjorn Helgaas <bhelgaas@google.com>
2017-08-10PCI: Inline and remove pcibios_update_irq()Bjorn Helgaas1-7/+1
pcibios_update_irq() was a weak function with only one trivial implementation. Inline it and remove the weak function. Signed-off-by: Bjorn Helgaas <bhelgaas@google.com>
2017-08-03PCI: Remove unused pci_fixup_irqs() functionMatthew Minter1-24/+0
Now we have removed all callers of pci_fixup_irqs() and migrated everything to pci_assign_irq(), delete the pci_fixup_irqs() function completely. 2017-07-02PCI: Add pci_assign_irq() function and have pci_fixup_irqs() use itMatthew Minter1-10/+35
Here we delete the static pdev_fixup_irq() function which is currently what pci_fixup_irqs() uses to actually assign the IRQs and replace it with the pci_assign_irq() function which changes the interface and uses the new function pointers stored in the host bridge structure. Eventually this will allow pci_fixup_irqs() to be removed entirely and the new deferred assignment code path will call pci_assign_irq() directly. However to ensure current users continue to work, a new implementation of pci_fixup_irqs() is introduced which simply wraps the functionality of pci_assign_irq(). 2014-04-14PCI: Remove unnecessary includes of <linux/init.h>Paul Gortmaker1-1/+0
None of these files are actually using any __init type directives and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a left over from __devinit and __cpuinit removal, or simply due to code getting copied from one driver to the next. 2012-09-18PCI: Provide a default pcibios_update_irq()Thierry Reding1-0/+5
Most architectures implement this in exactly the same way. Instead of having each architecture duplicate this function, provide a single implementation in the core and make it a weak symbol so that it can be overridden on architectures where it is required. 2012-09-18PCI: Discard __init annotations for pci_fixup_irqs() and related functionsThierry Reding1-2/+2
Remove the __init annotations in order to keep pci_fixup_irqs() around after init (e.g. for hotplug). This requires the same change for the implementation of pcibios_update_irq() on all architectures. While at it, all __devinit annotations are removed as well, since they will be useless now that HOTPLUG is always on. 2011-07-22PCI: Make the struct pci_dev * argument of pci_fixup_irqs const.Ralf Baechle1-2/+2
Aside of the usual motivation for constification, this function has a history of being abused a hook for interrupt and other fixups so I turned this function const ages ago in the MIPS code but it should be done treewide. Due to function pointer passing in varous places a few other functions had to be constified as well. 2008-06-25PCI: use dev_printk when possibleBjorn Helgaas1-2/+1
Convert printks to use dev_printk(). I converted pr_debug() to dev_dbg(). Both use KERN_DEBUG and are enabled only when DEBUG is defined. I converted printk(KERN_DEBUG) to dev_printk(KERN_DEBUG), not to dev_dbg(), because dev_dbg() is only enabled when DEBUG is defined. I converted DBG(KERN_INFO) (only in setup-bus.c) to dev_info(). The DBG() name makes it sound like debug, but it's been enabled forever, so dev_info() preserves the previous behavior. I tried to make the resource assignment formats more consistent, e.g., "BAR %d: got res [%#llx-%#llx] bus [%#llx-%#llx] flags %#lx\n" instead of sometimes using "start-end" and sometimes using "size@start". I'm not attached to one or the other; I'd just like them consistent. Signed-off-by: Bjorn Helgaas <bjorn.helgaas@hp.com> Signed-off-by: Jesse Barnes <jbarnes@virtuousgeek.org>
2007-10-12kobjects: fix up improper use of the kobject name fieldGreg Kroah-Hartman1-1/+1
A number of different drivers incorrect access the kobject name field directly. This is not correct as the name might not be in the array. Use the proper accessor function instead.
2007-02-16PCI: PCI devices get assigned redundant IRQsAndreas Block1-8/+10
I'm currently working on a port to a CPCI board with a MPC5200. When testing the PCI interrupt routing, I discovered the following: Even devices which don't use interrupts (-> PCI Spec.: Interrupt Pin Register is zero), get an interrupt assigned (this is at least true for most of the PPC-targets I looked at). The cause is pretty obvious in drivers/pci/setup-irq.c. I guess at least in an ideal world with correctly designed hardware, the code should rather look as in the patch below. Of course it doesn't hurt anybody to have an unuseable IRQ assigned to a PCI-to-PCI-bridge (or something alike), but to me it seems a bit strange. Please correct me, if I'm mislead. The patch below is tested on the above mentioned CPCI-MPC5200 board and is compiler tested with the latest git-repository kernel on x86. Cc: "Eric W. 2005-04-16Linux-2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds1-0/+64
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
