2012-09-05serial: add a new helper functionHuang Shijie2-3/+3
In most of the time, the driver needs to check if the cts flow control is enabled. But now, the driver checks the ASYNC_CTS_FLOW flag manually, which is not a grace way. So add a new wraper function to make the code tidy and clean. Signed-off-by: Huang Shijie <shijie8@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2012-08-13TTY: ircomm_tty, add tty installJiri Slaby1-16/+25
This has two outcomes: * we give the TTY layer a tty_port * we do not find the info structure every time open is called on that tty Signed-off-by: Jiri Slaby <jslaby@suse.cz> Cc: Samuel Ortiz <samuel@sortiz.org> Acked-by: Alan Cox <alan@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2012-08-06Merge tty-next into 3.6-rc1Greg Kroah-Hartman3-5/+5

2012-07-16tty: move the termios object into the ttyAlan Cox2-11/+11
This will let us sort out a whole pile of tty related races. The alternative would be to keep points and refcount the termios objects. However 1. They are tiny anyway 2. Many devices don't use the stored copies 3. We can remove a pty special case Signed-off-by: Alan Cox <alan@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

2012-06-12TTY: ircomm, define local tty_portJiri Slaby1-53/+56
In some functions we use tty_port heavily. So let us have a local pointer to that variable instead of having self->port all over the code. 2012-06-12TTY: ircomm, use tty from tty_portJiri Slaby4-41/+70
This also includes a switch to tty refcounting. It makes sure, the code no longer can access a freed TTY struct. Sometimes the only thing needed is to pass tty down to the callies. 2012-06-12TTY: ircomm, revamp lockingJiri Slaby1-20/+18
Use self->spinlock only for ctrl_skb and tx_skb. TTY stuff is now protected by tty_port->lock. This is needed for further cleanup (and conversion to tty_port helpers). 2012-06-04net: Remove casts to same typeJoe Perches1-3/+3
Adding casts of objects to the same type is unnecessary and confusing for a human reader. For example, this cast: int y; int *p = (int *)&y; I used the coccinelle script below to find and remove these unnecessary casts. I manually removed the conversions this script produces of casts with __force and __user. @@ type T; T *p; @@ - (T *)p + p Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2012-04-20net: Convert all sysctl registrations to register_net_sysctlEric W. Biederman1-7/+1
This results in code with less boiler plate that is a bit easier to read. 2012-04-20net: Move all of the network sysctls without a namespace into init_net.Eric W. Biederman1-2/+2
This makes it clearer which sysctls are relative to your current network namespace. This makes it a little less error prone by not exposing sysctls for the initial network namespace in other namespaces. This is the same way we handle all of our other network interfaces to userspace and I can't honestly remember why we didn't do this for sysctls right from the start. Signed-off-by: Eric W. 2012-03-08TTY: remove unneeded tty->index checksJiri Slaby1-5/+1
Checking if tty->index is in bounds is not needed. The tty has the index set in the initial open. This is done in get_tty_driver. And it can be only in interval <0,driver->num). So remove the tests which check exactly this interval. Some are left untouched as they check against the current backing device count. (Leaving apart that the check is racy in most of the cases.) 2012-03-08TTY: remove re-assignments to tty_driver membersJiri Slaby1-1/+0
All num, magic and owner are set by alloc_tty_driver. No need to re-set them on each allocation site. pti driver sets something different to what it passes to alloc_tty_driver. It is not a bug, since we don't use the lines parameter in any way. Anyway this is fixed, and now we do the right thing. module_param(bool) used to counter-intuitively take an int. In fddd5201 (mid-2009) we allowed bool or int/unsigned int using a messy trick. It's time to remove the int/unsigned int option.
