2010-06-03tehuti: return -EFAULT on copy_to_user errorsDan Carpenter1-2/+2
copy_to_user() returns the number of bytes remaining but we want to return a negative error code here. Signed-off-by: Dan Carpenter <error27@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2010-05-06tehuti: Remove unnecessary memset of netdev private dataTobias Klauser1-1/+0
The memory for the private data is allocated using kzalloc in alloc_etherdev (or alloc_netdev_mq respectively) so there is no need to set it to 0 again. Signed-off-by: Tobias Klauser <tklauser@distanz.ch> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2010-04-14drivers: net: use skb_headlen()Eric Dumazet1-1/+1
replaces (skb->len - skb->data_len) occurrences by skb_headlen(skb) Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <eric.dumazet@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2010-04-03net: convert multicast list to list_headJiri Pirko1-3/+3
Converts the list and the core manipulating with it to be the same as uc_list. +uses two functions for adding/removing mc address (normal and "global" variant) instead of a function parameter. +removes dev_mcast.c completely. +exposes netdev_hw_addr_list_* macros along with __hw_addr_* functions for manipulation with lists on a sandbox (used in bonding and 80211 drivers) Signed-off-by: Jiri Pirko <jpirko@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2010-03-30net: remove redundant codeEric Dumazet1-1/+0
eth_type_trans(skb, netdev) does the "skb->dev = netdev;" initialization, we can remove it from various network drivers. Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <eric.dumazet@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2009-11-04trivial: remove duplicated MIN macro from tehuti.Thiago Farina1-1/+1
Since the kernel api already has the macro "min", just use it instead of declaring another one. Signed-off-by: Thiago Farina <tfransosi@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2009-10-05tehuti: Convert ethtool get_stats_count() ops to get_sset_count()Ben Hutchings1-15/+12
This string query operation was supposed to be replaced by the generic get_sset_count() starting in 2007. Convert tehuti's implementation. Also remove the dummy self-test name which was not used since tehuti does not advertise any self-tests. Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <bhutchings@solarflare.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2009-09-02netdev: drivers should make ethtool_ops constStephen Hemminger1-1/+1
No need to put ethtool_ops in data, they should be const. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@vyatta.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2009-09-01netdev: convert bulk of drivers to netdev_tx_tStephen Hemminger1-1/+2

2009-05-29net: dont update dev->trans_start in 10GB driversEric Dumazet1-2/+3
Followup of commits 9d21493b4beb8f918ba248032fefa393074a5e2b and 08baf561083bc27a953aa087dd8a664bb2b88e8e (net: tx scalability works : trans_start) (net: txq_trans_update() helper) Now that core network takes care of trans_start updates, dont do it in drivers themselves, if possible. Multi queue drivers can avoid one cache miss (on dev->trans_start) in their start_xmit() handler. Exceptions are NETIF_F_LLTX drivers (vxge & tehuti) Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <eric.dumazet@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2009-01-21net: Remove redundant NAPI functionsBen Hutchings1-3/+3
Following the removal of the unused struct net_device * parameter from the NAPI functions named *netif_rx_* in commit 908a7a1, they are exactly equivalent to the corresponding *napi_* functions and are therefore redundant. Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <bhutchings@solarflare.com> Acked-by: Neil Horman <nhorman@tuxdriver.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2008-12-22net: Remove unused netdev arg from some NAPI interfaces.Neil Horman1-4/+3
When the napi api was changed to separate its 1:1 binding to the net_device struct, the netif_rx_[prep|schedule|complete] api failed to remove the now vestigual net_device structure parameter. This patch cleans up that api by properly removing it.. Signed-off-by: Neil Horman <nhorman@tuxdriver.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-11-21tehuti: convert to net_device_opsStephen Hemminger1-11/+16

2008-11-12netdevice: safe convert to netdev_priv() #part-3Wang Chen1-19/+19
We have some reasons to kill netdev->priv: 1. netdev->priv is equal to netdev_priv(). 2. netdev_priv() wraps the calculation of netdev->priv's offset, obviously netdev_priv() is more flexible than netdev->priv. But we cann't kill netdev->priv, because so many drivers reference to it directly. This patch is a safe convert for netdev->priv to netdev_priv(netdev). Since all of the netdev->priv is only for read. But it is too big to be sent in one mail. I split it to 4 parts and make every part smaller than 100,000 bytes, which is max size allowed by vger. Signed-off-by: Wang Chen <wangchen@cn.fujitsu.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-11-03drivers/net: Kill now superfluous ->last_rx stores.David S. Miller1-1/+0
The generic packet receive code takes care of setting netdev->last_rx when necessary, for the sake of the bonding ARP monitor. Drivers need not do it any more. Some cases had to be skipped over because the drivers were making use of the ->last_rx value themselves. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-07-06netdrv: don't truncate VLAN TCI with VLAN strippingPatrick McHardy1-1/+1
The vlan_hwaccel_{rx,receive_skb} functions expect the full TCI field for priority mappings, don't truncate the upper 4 bits. Signed-off-by: Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> Acked-by: Jeff Garzik <jgarzik@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-04-29drivers/net/tehuti: use proper capability check for raw IO accessLinus Torvalds1-1/+1
Yeah, in practice they both mean "root", but Alan correctly points out that anybody who gets to do raw IO space accesses should really be using CAP_SYS_RAWIO rather than CAP_NET_ADMIN. Pointed-out-by: Alan Cox <alan@lxorguk.ukuu.org.uk> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

2008-01-28netdev: use ARRAY_SIZE() instead of sizeof(array) / ETH_GSTRING_LENAlejandro Martinez Ruiz1-5/+3
Using ARRAY_SIZE() on arrays of the form array[][K] makes it unnecessary to know the value of K when checking its size. Signed-off-by: Alejandro Martinez Ruiz <alex@flawedcode.org> Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik <jeff@garzik.org>
