2016-08-11arm64: Remove stack duplicating code from jprobesDavid A. Long1-2/+0
Because the arm64 calling standard allows stacked function arguments to be anywhere in the stack frame, do not attempt to duplicate the stack frame for jprobes handler functions. Documentation changes to describe this issue have been broken out into a separate patch in order to simultaneously address them in other architecture(s). Signed-off-by: David A. 2016-08-04arm64: Fix copy-on-write referencing in HugeTLBSteve Capper1-0/+17
set_pte_at(.) will set or unset the PTE_RDONLY hardware bit before writing the entry to the table. This can cause problems with the copy-on-write logic in hugetlb_cow: *) hugetlb_cow(.) called to handle a write fault on read only pte, *) Before the copy-on-write updates the new page table a call is made to pte_same(huge_ptep_get(ptep), pte)), to check for a race, *) Because set_pte_at(.) changed the pte, *ptep != pte, and the hugetlb_cow(.) code erroneously assumes that it lost the race, *) The new page is subsequently freed without being used. On arm64 this problem only becomes apparent when we apply: 67961f9 mm/hugetlb: fix huge page reserve accounting for private mappings When one runs the libhugetlbfs test suite, there are allocation errors and hugetlbfs pages become erroneously locked in memory as reserved. (There is a high HugePages_Rsvd: count). In this patch we introduce pte_same which ignores the PTE_RDONLY bit, allowing for the libhugetlbfs test suite to pass as expected and without leaking any reserved HugeTLB pages. 2016-07-29arm64: Define AT_VECTOR_SIZE_ARCH for ARCH_DLINFOJames Hogan2-0/+3
AT_VECTOR_SIZE_ARCH should be defined with the maximum number of NEW_AUX_ENT entries that ARCH_DLINFO can contain, but it wasn't defined for arm64 at all even though ARCH_DLINFO will contain one NEW_AUX_ENT for the VDSO address. This shouldn't be a problem as AT_VECTOR_SIZE_BASE includes space for AT_BASE_PLATFORM which arm64 doesn't use, but lets define it now and add the comment above ARCH_DLINFO as found in several other architectures to remind future modifiers of ARCH_DLINFO to keep AT_VECTOR_SIZE_ARCH up to date. 2016-07-27arm64: arm: Fix-up the removal of the arm64 regs_query_register_name() prototypeCatalin Marinas1-1/+0
Commit 0a8ea52c3eb1 ("arm64: Add HAVE_REGS_AND_STACK_ACCESS_API feature") inadvertently removed the arch/arm prototype instead of the arm64 one introduced by the original patch. There should not be any bisection issues since this function is not called from anywhere else (it could as well be removed from arch/arm at some point). 2016-07-19arm64: Add trampoline code for kretprobesWilliam Cohen1-0/+2
The trampoline code is used by kretprobes to capture a return from a probed function. This is done by saving the registers, calling the handler, and restoring the registers. The code then returns to the original saved caller return address. It is necessary to do this directly instead of using a software breakpoint because the code used in processing that breakpoint could itself be kprobe'd and cause a problematic reentry into the debug exception handler. 2016-07-19arm64: kprobes instruction simulation supportSandeepa Prabhu1-2/+3
Kprobes needs simulation of instructions that cannot be stepped from a different memory location, e.g.: those instructions that uses PC-relative addressing. In simulation, the behaviour of the instruction is implemented using a copy of pt_regs. The following instruction categories are simulated: - All branching instructions(conditional, register, and immediate) - Literal access instructions(load-literal, adr/adrp) Conditional execution is limited to branching instructions in ARM v8. If conditions at PSTATE do not match the condition fields of opcode, the instruction is effectively NOP. Thanks to Will Cohen for assorted suggested changes. 2016-07-19arm64: Kprobes with single stepping supportSandeepa Prabhu5-2/+113
Add support for basic kernel probes(kprobes) and jump probes (jprobes) for ARM64. Kprobes utilizes software breakpoint and single step debug exceptions supported on ARM v8. A software breakpoint is placed at the probe address to trap the kernel execution into the kprobe handler. ARM v8 supports enabling single stepping before the break exception return (ERET), with next PC in exception return address (ELR_EL1). The kprobe handler prepares an executable memory slot for out-of-line execution with a copy of the original instruction being probed, and enables single stepping. The PC is set to the out-of-line slot address before the ERET. With this scheme, the instruction is executed with the exact same register context except for the PC (and DAIF) registers. Debug mask (PSTATE.D) is enabled only when single stepping a recursive kprobe, e.g.: during kprobes reenter so that probed instruction can be single stepped within the kprobe handler -exception- context. The recursion depth of kprobe is always 2, i.e. upon probe re-entry, any further re-entry is prevented by not calling handlers and the case counted as a missed kprobe). Single stepping from the x-o-l slot has a drawback for PC-relative accesses like branching and symbolic literals access as the offset from the new PC (slot address) may not be ensured to fit in the immediate value of the opcode. Such instructions need simulation, so reject probing them. Instructions generating exceptions or cpu mode change are rejected for probing. Exclusive load/store instructions are rejected too. Additionally, the code is checked to see if it is inside an exclusive load/store sequence (code from Pratyush). System instructions are mostly enabled for stepping, except MSR/MRS accesses to "DAIF" flags in PSTATE, which are not safe for probing. This also changes arch/arm64/include/asm/ptrace.h to use include/asm-generic/ptrace.h. Thanks to Steve Capper and Pratyush Anand for several suggested Changes. 2016-07-18KVM: arm64: vgic-its: Introduce new KVM ITS deviceAndre Przywara1-0/+2
Introduce a new KVM device that represents an ARM Interrupt Translation Service (ITS) controller. Since there can be multiple of this per guest, we can't piggy back on the existing GICv3 distributor device, but create a new type of KVM device. On the KVM_CREATE_DEVICE ioctl we allocate and initialize the ITS data structure and store the pointer in the kvm_device data. Upon an explicit init ioctl from userland (after having setup the MMIO address) we register the handlers with the kvm_io_bus framework. Any reference to an ITS thus has to go via this interface. 2016-07-12arm64: cpuinfo: Expose MIDR_EL1 and REVIDR_EL1 to sysfsSteve Capper1-0/+2
It can be useful for JIT software to be aware of MIDR_EL1 and REVIDR_EL1 to ascertain the presence of any core errata that could affect code generation. This patch exposes these registers through sysfs: /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu$ID/regs/identification/midr_el1 /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu$ID/regs/identification/revidr_el1 where $ID is the cpu number. For big.LITTLE systems, one can have a mixture of cores (e.g. Cortex A53 and Cortex A57), thus all CPUs need to be enumerated. If the kernel does not have valid information to populate these entries with, an empty string is returned to userspace. 2016-07-12arm64: Add support for CLOCK_MONOTONIC_RAW in clock_gettime() vDSOKevin Brodsky1-2/+6
So far the arm64 clock_gettime() vDSO implementation only supported the following clocks, falling back to the syscall for the others: - CLOCK_REALTIME{,_COARSE} - CLOCK_MONOTONIC{,_COARSE} This patch adds support for the CLOCK_MONOTONIC_RAW clock, taking advantage of the recent refactoring of the vDSO time functions. Like the non-_COARSE clocks, this only works when the "arch_sys_counter" clocksource is in use (allowing us to read the current time from the virtual counter register), otherwise we also have to fall back to the syscall. Most of the data is shared with CLOCK_MONOTONIC, and the algorithm is similar. The reference implementation in kernel/time/timekeeping.c shows that: - CLOCK_MONOTONIC = tk->wall_to_monotonic + tk->xtime_sec + timekeeping_get_ns(&tk->tkr_mono) - CLOCK_MONOTONIC_RAW = tk->raw_time + timekeeping_get_ns(&tk->tkr_raw) - tkr_mono and tkr_raw are identical (in particular, same clocksource), except these members: * mult (only mono's multiplier is NTP-adjusted) * xtime_nsec (always 0 for raw) Therefore, tk->raw_time and tkr_raw->mult are now also stored in the vDSO data page. 2016-07-07locking/barriers, arch/arm64: Implement LDXR+WFE based smp_cond_load_acquire()Will Deacon2-0/+64
smp_cond_load_acquire() is used to spin on a variable until some expression involving that variable becomes true. On arm64, we can build this using the LDXR and WFE instructions, since clearing of the exclusive monitor as a result of the variable being changed by another CPU generates an event, which will wake us up out of WFE. 2016-07-01arm64: efi: always map runtime services code and data regions down to pagesArd Biesheuvel1-2/+1
To avoid triggering diagnostics in the MMU code that are finicky about splitting block mappings into more granular mappings, ensure that regions that are likely to appear in the Memory Attributes table as well as the UEFI memory map are always mapped down to pages. This way, we can use apply_to_page_range() instead of create_pgd_mapping() for the second pass, which cannot split or merge block entries, and operates strictly on PTEs. Note that this aligns the arm64 Memory Attributes table handling code with the ARM code, which already uses apply_to_page_range() to set the strict permissions.
